Rev. Dr. Peter Kashung
The inception of the Leadership Training Centre is intricately tied to Reverend Peter Kashung and his wife Moala’s unwavering dedication and visionary leadership.
Having completed their basic theological education in India (ETC, Jorhat, Serampore College, and UBS, Pune), they tied the knot. The Manipur Baptist Convention extended an invitation to the newly married couple to establish a Theological College. Despite meager salaries of Rs 350 for Peter as Principal and Rs 375 for Moala as a Lecturer, along with an extra Rs 25 allowance for female teachers, they embraced this endeavor.
They initiated the college within the Kangpokpi mission compound, lacking both electricity and water supply. This location served as the inaugural site of pioneering missionary efforts led by William Pettigrew and his team from American Baptist Missions.
Following the establishment of the theological college, they pursued advanced theological studies at the prestigious Dallas Theological Seminary in the United States. There, they not only acquired knowledge but also sparked a profound passion for service. Upon completing their studies, they returned to the same college, dedicating thirteen years to nurturing and molding the minds of future church leaders.
During their time at Manipur Theological College, Peter and Moala felt a stirring within, a divine call to extend their ministry beyond academia into spreading the Gospel of Christ and His Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20 ). This call, compelling and undeniable, urged them to step out in faith. Answering this divine summons, Peter and Moala embarked on a new journey, founding the Leadership Training Center in 1993. This endeavor wasn’t just a dream realized; it epitomized their steadfast dedication to fulfilling the Great Commission of Jesus Christ—to spread His message and make disciples worldwide.
Since its inception,, the Leadership Training Center has been serving as a beacon of hope and empowerment, reaching across six neighboring countries and touching countless lives. Through its comprehensive programs and unwavering commitment to excellence, the center has equipped individuals with the necessary skills, knowledge, and spiritual strength to effectively share the gospel and lead others in faith.
Contemplating the incredible journey of Reverend Peter Kashung and Moala, we’re reminded of the profound influence of faith, obedience, and service. Their legacy inspires us, encouraging us to embrace our own divine calling and leave a meaningful mark on the world.
